Disney's Beauty and the Beast in Concert hits Melbourne with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra next April.
Melbourne Symphony Orchestra is set to deliver a spectacular live-to-film experience when Disney’s Beauty and the Beast in Concert arrives at Hamer Hall in 2026. This enchanting concert celebrates the 35th anniversary of the beloved animated classic, combining the full film screening with Alan Menken’s Academy Award-winning score performed live.
Beauty and the Beast made cinematic history as the first animated feature nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars, taking home two Academy Awards for Best Original Score and Best Original Song. Menken’s spellbinding compositions also earned two Grammy Awards in the same categories, while the film secured three Golden Globe Awards including Best Motion Picture (Musical or Comedy).

Conductor Jen Winley will lead the MSO through the magical score as audiences watch the complete film in full HD. From the sweeping romance of Beauty and the Beast to the joyful exuberance of Be Our Guest, this rare concert opportunity showcases the music that has captured hearts across generations with the full power and richness of a live orchestra.
Original voice cast members Paige O’Hara (Belle), Robby Benson (Beast), Angela Lansbury (Mrs. Potts), Jerry Orbach (Lumière), and David Ogden Stiers (Cogsworth) brought the characters to life in the 1991 release. Ground-breaking animation techniques paired with unforgettable songs and heartfelt storytelling created a cultural phenomenon that continues enchanting audiences worldwide.
