MKA Presents Sleepyhead

MKA, a theatre for New Writing, went through some trouble with their new site, but everything seems to be back on track now with Nathaniel Moncrieff’s play Sleepyhead kicking off its season – and MKA’s first season – on Thursday May 12.

Directed by Yvonne Virsik, the play won The Fellowship Of Australian Writers’ Di Cranston Award in 2009 and was shortlisted for the 2010 Griffin Award. It’s about a family in rural Western Australia and has a strong, dark, Southern Gothic feel, with references to Brecht and Pinter.

Developed with the support of ATYP’s Fresh Ink program, the play stars Kiloran Hiscock, Emily Wheaton, Kaitlyn Clare, Daniel Frederiksen, Chris Broadstock and Hannah Camilleri.
