WOENWAR ALBUM #2

Wovenwar will release their second album, Honor Is Dead, via Metal Blade Records/Rocket on Friday October 21. More aggressive and fluid than its self-titled predecessor, Honor Is Dead was written with contributions from all members, while the music was mostly written before vocalist Shane Blay joined the band. The results speak for themselves, capturing a group that sounds truly unified and hungry. The first preview of Honor Is Dead, a concept video by Wovenwar’s own Nick Hipa for first single Censorship, can be viewed at metalblade.com/wovenwar

MEET THE RUINER

Established in 2013, The Ruiner were originally brought together to play a one-off show as a tribute to legendary death/grind/stoner band Christbait (1989-1996). They appeared under the moniker Dirtypunkmutha, the name of Christbait’s 1996 release. Somehow, amid much arm-twisting and promises of fame and fortune, two of Christbait’s original members decided to get the project off the ground as a proper band. Featuring Craig Westwood (guitar – Christbait, Dern Rutlidge, Budd), Jason Vassallo (vocals – Christbait, Dread), Jason PC (bass – Blood Duster, Dern Rutlidge, Birdcage) and brothers Adam Stokes (guitar – Legends Of Motorsport, Pillow) and Ben Stokes (drums – Pillow, Tailbone, Piggy), The Ruiner blends heavy and dark doom riffs with hard stoner grooves; they’re a cross between Isis, Goatsnake and the band you always wanted to join, super heavy while not being afraid of a song. They’ve released two digital singles to date with their debut self-titled album set for release Monday September 26 through Desert Highways.

ARCH ENEMY’S ALISSA ANNOUNCES SOLO PROJECT

Arch Enemy frontwoman Alissa White-Gluz has announced a solo project simply titled Alissa, with her debut record to be released worldwide via Napalm Records. “It is a welcome creative outlet to unlock all of my lyrical and musical vaults with zero restriction or pressure to conform to any particular style or era,” White-Gluz says. “I also pay close attention to what my fans want – I haven’t been ignoring the consistent requests for my clean singing voice. With Angela Gossow as management and Napalm Records just as passionate as I am about this new project, I’m fortunate to have found a home amongst friends and colleagues who are supportive and encouraging of my full musical spectrum. This album will also feature members of the Arch Enemy family, both current and past, as well as many of the other great artists I have had the pleasure of sharing a stage with throughout my career.” The album is already scheduled for 2017 and tour dates will follow.

IMMOLATION IS IMMINENT

Immolation have been delivering some of the most unique, and creatively dark, death metal the underground has witnessed for over 25 years. Spewing forth unrelenting, chaotic and twisted sonics while continuing to push the limits of a genre they helped define. Alongside their peers Cannibal Corpse, Morbid Angel, Deicide and Obituary they created a scene unlike any other. See them at Max Watts on Friday September 23.

ORSOME WELLES HITS THE ROAD WITH CIRCLES

Melbourne’s heavy experimental creatives Orsome Welles will release a brand new EP titled Rise in early November and the band will tour nationally with Circles in September to celebrate the release of first single Build A World. “We’ve been hard at work this year gearing up for the onslaught that is the months to come,” guitarist Steven Angell says. “We’ll be showcasing the new single Build A World, which explores the idea of obsession fuelling one’s ability to change their life, and surroundings in an instant. I think it really shows where we’re going musically and production-wise with the new release.” Catch them on Saturday September 17 at The Evelyn with Circles, James Norbert Ivanyi and Kardinal.
