Double Vision launches this week at ACMI with underground electronic artists and experimental cinema across three nights.
The audiovisual performance series combines acid house, Detroit techno and ambient soundscapes with kinetic sound sculptures and experimental cinema in ACMI’s state-of-the-art cinemas. Double Vision features a lineup of electronic music trailblazers including Honeysmack, Jani Ho, Tom Hall, mHz, Penelope Trappes, Peter Knight, Aviva Endean and Dogmilk Films, exploring the intersection of sound and vision through live performance.
Curated by Brad Spolding, the three-night event promises an immersive experience for fans of techno, DIY film and experimental audiovisual art. Each evening presents different artists and approaches, from underground dance music to ambient compositions and collaborative film scores.

Thursday’s programme features Honeysmack, the underground techno artist David Haberfeld, whose three-decade career has positioned him at the forefront of acid and techno music. Jani Ho joins the bill with his machine music influenced by Detroit techno, jazz and early house from his New York upbringing. The evening includes screenings from the Cyberthron series.
Friday presents Tom Hall, an Australian electronic audiovisual artist based in Los Angeles, whose work incorporates field recordings, synthesisers and computer processing. mHz, also known as mo H. zareei, brings kinetic sound sculptures and audiovisual installations using custom-built software and hardware.
Saturday concludes with Penelope Trappes, whose latest album A Requiem explores haunting ambient soundscapes. Peter Knight and Aviva Endean collaborate with film collective Dogmilk Films, creating live scores for experimental cinema that documents collective intuition and alternative storytelling approaches.
