Composed in 1928, An American in Paris is one of Gershwin’s best-known works, inspired by his experiences within the French capital. At the time, Gershwin was one of the first composers to blend classical music with elements of jazz and blues. The night will also feature Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G alongside Saint-Saëns’ final symphonic work – a piece to specially utilise the majestic town organ.
