In 2025, Melbourne Recital Centre will bring us everything from buzzy classical sensations to contemporary stars.

Melbourne Recital Centre is known for curating a rich and diverse range of talent and next year will be no exception. In 2025, the iconic venue will host acts from international favourites to stunning debuts and absolutely everything in between.

“Throughout the year, our stages will be filled with talented performers, composers, and innovators at the very forefront of their craft. Whether people are visiting us for the first or fiftieth time, everyone is set for a remarkable live music experience with us,” says Melbourne Recital Centre’s CEO Sandra Willis.

Keep up with the latest music news, features, festivals, interviews and reviews here.

Starting things off with a bang will be Cradle of Life by Bundjalung/Lama Lama spoken word artist Tamala Shelton and Tibetan/Australian musician Tenzin Choegyal, which reflects on our time on this planet. On Valentine’s Day, the Latvian duo The Balanas Sisters will take the stage for a riveting and romantic show.

Two Signature Events will be a highlight of the season. First, the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra will take listeners through an exploration of the baroque and classical alongside pianist Kristian Bezuidenhout and Australian soprano Siobhan Stagg. Then, later in the year, The Tallis Scholars will take on a millennium of sacred music with two vocal-driven shows.

Elsewhere on the program, find include baritone Matthias Goerne tackling Schubert’s Winterreise, Genesis Baroque with star soprano Sara Macliver, violinist Daniel Lozakovich, pianist Sir Stephen Hough, Renaissance ensemble La Compañia, pianist Benjamin Grosvenor, and cellist Daniel Müller-Schott with pianist Konstantin Shamray.

Marshall McGuire, Director of Programming, reflects on his choices: “When putting together the 2025 program, I wanted to bring a mix of the familiar and the new, revelling in the exciting new voices impacting the world’s stages, and reinviting familiar and much-loved guests back to our stages.”

“Music and storytelling are not just performances here; they are transformative experiences that resonate with the very essence of human emotion and creativity. When you immerse yourself in the Centre’s offerings, you’ll depart with a profound understanding of why music is a universal language,” says Willis.
