The City of Melbourne, in conjunction with the Victorian government, has just announced a new $8.4 million initiative to help Melbourne spring back to life in the wake of lockdown.
Opening from today, ‘Melbourne Money’ will offer diners who spend between $50 and $500 at Melbourne restaurants, pubs, cafes and bars a 20 per cent rebate on their total bill.
What you need to know
- The City of Melbourne and state government have just announced ‘Melbourne Money’, a new $8.4 million dining initiative aimed to help Melbourne spring back to life post-lockdown
- To be eligible for the initiative, spend between $50 and $500 at Melbourne restaurants, pubs, cafes and bars and you’ll have access to a 20 per cent rebate
- First-in-best-dressed, the initiative will run until funds are exhausted

The rebate will be available for those who dine at venues across the City of Melbourne municipality, so we’re talking Southbank, Chinatown, Lygon Street, Docklands, North Melbourne and Kensington and at hospitality venues within sporting, arts and theatre precincts.
To claim the offer, all you’ll have to do is follow these three simple steps:
- Once you’ve finished your meal, pay for the bill in full and collect the itemised receipt.
- Upload your receipt and bank details via the secure Melbourne Money website.
- The 20 per cent rebate will be credited to your nominated bank account within five business days after their claim has been approved.
You better get your skates on though as the initiative is first-in-first-served until funds run out.
