The plan – which is set to be fully revealed in early 2017 – takes inspiration from cities including Paris and Portland, which have integrated skating spaces into underutilised areas.
Rabalder Parken in Roskilde, Denmark is cited as inspiration.
Proposed actions under the plan include finding a 24-hour skate space, create night skating areas and upgrading existing skate spaces including Alexandra Gardens and JJ Holland Park.
Elsewhere, the proposal points to building a brand new, extra-large skate park that could cater to international events.
Far from just building new skate parks however, the plan aims to integrate skateable elements into the city itself, using specific selection criteria to ensure skaters and city dwellers can co-exist peacefully.
