LUCY’S CROWN

Define your genre in five words or less:

Cinematic ‘90s-influenced alternative rock.

Someone walks past as you’re playing, they get a beer and tell their friend about you… what do they say?

Good Golly Miss Molly!

How long have you been gigging and writing?

We spent the most part of ‘09 to ‘10 writing and gigging, eventually finding time to get into the studio to record our debut EP Under Your Skinn.

What’s been your favourite gig you’ve played to date?

We had the best time a few weeks ago playing a fundraiser show for the BRDL (Ballarat Roller Darby League) at The Karova lounge, Ballarat. The laughs continued on the tour bus when certain band members (names have been withheld for legal reasons) planked ‘til it hurt, over the bus seats whilst on the hunt for the infamous post gig feed.

Which band would you most like to have a battle/showdown with?

Not sure about a battle or showdown, to share a bill with the likes of Patti Smith would be incredible.

What inspires or has influenced your music the most?

Ludwig van Beethoven – the first Grunge composer.

What do you think a band has to do these days to succeed?

Stay together long enough.

Do you have any record releases to date? What? Where can I get it?

Our current debut EP Under Your Skinn is available for download on iTunes. Hard copies are available at our shows. We’ve just released a music video for our song Skinn that’s had a good turn on Rage.

Why should everyone come and see your band?

On Friday August 5 at The Prague, we’ll have some very special guests in the form of Scottish Highland Bagpipers (Hawthorn City Pipe Band) join us on stage. Not to be missed if you’re partial to men in kilts.

When are you playing live/releasing your album/EP/single/etc?

We’re playing IGINITE at The Prague, Thornbury on Friday August 5.
