Hetty Kate returns to Melbourne with a unique ensemble featuring two guitars and two double basses. The combination creates a warm, intimate sound that pairs well with her vocal style. Kate has built a strong reputation on the international jazz circuit since relocating to Paris, and this performance will showcase a mix of standards and lesser-known tracks that highlight the quintet’s distinctive arrangements.
Next Wednesday, Noria Letts brings La Musique to The Count’s for the first time. The show takes audiences on a journey through French jazz, touching on compositions by Serge Gainsbourg and Michel Legrand alongside works by John Coltrane and Thelonious Monk. Letts will be backed by a lineup of Australian jazz musicians for this contemporary take on the French jazz tradition.
The Count’s has established itself as one of Melbourne’s go-to spots for live jazz in an intimate setting. The venue, part of Monash University Performing Arts Centres, hosts regular performances throughout the year. Looking ahead to 2026, MPAC has announced a packed program including Kindred People, a new Indigenous-led festival, plus returning events like Big Jazz Day Out and Family Fiesta.
