Live at The Count’s: Jake Mason Trio

An ARIA-winning and APRA-nominated and songwriter member of the Music Victoria Artist Advisory Panel and Guild of Screen Composers, Jake Mason is a 20-year quiet achiever of the Australian music industry.

Mason’s co-write of This Girl (Kungs Vs Cookin’ On 3 Burners) which charted at number 1 in 10 countries, has over one billion streams and was the most shazamed dance track worldwide in 2016.

A founding member of ARIA-award winning hammond trio, Cookin’ on 3 Burners, Mason has released 15 albums with various projects and established his own label and studio, Soul Messin’ Records and has worked with artists including Tex Perkins, Richard Clapton, Josh Teskey, Kate Ceberano and Eric McCusker.

Mason’s screen work spans TV (Love Island, A Million Little Things, MacGyver, My Life Is Murder) and advertising/sync for Just Jeans, Westpac (Australia), Peugeot (Europe), Samsung (USA, played at the Superbowl), Vogue, Victoria’s Secret and the Ellen Degeneres Show.

Mason brings his masterful musical sensibilities to The Count’s with his esteemed jazz trio. The Jake Mason trio features Danny Fischer (drums), James Sherlock (guitar) and Jake Mason (Hammond Organ). Taking cue from the golden era of organ trios (Smith, McDuff, and McGriff) and music from today’s melting pot, the trio weave their way through familiar sounds with a modern twist.

Bluesy soul-jazz, blazing vigour and soundtrack-esque territory. “I love the place where Jazz and Soul meets” says Mason. “It has a simplicity that is so warm and welcoming combined with a complexity that is exciting and makes you move”.

Released in 2018, the trio’s debut release “The Stranger In The Mirror” picked up an ARIA nomination for Best Jazz Album in the same year.
