Listen to Tropical Fuck Storm cover Talking Heads’ 1979 classic, ‘Heaven’

Words by Kate Streader

The single will be released as a B-side on a limited-edition 7″ vinyl titled Legal Ghost vs Heaven.

On the back of their recent single ‘Legal Ghost’, Tropical Fuck Storm are back with a B-side cover of Talking Heads’ 1979 classic, ‘Heaven’.

Recorded at Dodgy Brothers Studio in Central Victoria before the pandemic sent us all into isolation, the track features guest performances from Don Don (Augie March) on pedal steel and H’y (Suss Cunts) on violin.

“‘Heaven’ is this weird chameleon-like tune which has meant one thing for about 40 years. But in light of all this pandemic shit and all the trouble and strife in the western world has done a total 180-degree flip, and now ‘Heaven’ means the reverse of what it once did.  It also has a lovely melody,” said TFS vocalist and guitarist Gareth Liddiard of their choice to cover the Talking Heads track.

Tropical Fuck Storm will release their rendition of ‘Heaven’ on a limited-edition electric blue 7” vinyl as the B-side to ‘Legal Ghost’. The singles were also originally pressed on red vinyl, though all copies sold out within hours of being announced.

The Victoria-based art punk outfit will release their third LP early next year.
