The annual winter festival is getting creative for this year’s instalment.
With coronavirus restrictions set to remain in place for the foreseeable future, this year Leaps and Bounds Music Festival is going digital.
The annual winter festival is Yarra Council’s way of celebrating the vibrant local music scene and with the live music industry in desperate need of support, they’ve found a way to bring the beloved festival to fans this year despite venue shutdowns and physical distancing measures.
Leaps and Bounds 2020 – Apart and Not Alone will continue to support local venues too, with Yarra Council encouraging venues, music labels and record stores to get creative in presenting live music performances in isolation-friendly ways.
To further bolster the local music community, the Council will be offering participating programmers a cash boost, while presenters can opt to host ticketed events or ask for donations.
Exactly what this year’s Leaps and Bounds will look like is yet to be determined, with the festival now open for submissions from prospective participating venues and programmers until Wednesday May 6. All will be revealed when the program launches on Wednesday May 27.
Leaps and Bounds 2020 – Apart and Not Alone is happening from June 11 – 27. Find out more here.
