Leader Cheetah have a sophomore album in the works – more crafty seventies folk revivalism, if this is any indication. The vocals on Crawling Up Landslide are a quavering echo of Neil Young’s distinctive style, even more so here than on Bloodlines. With its bouncy, slide guitar-driven country sound, the whole thing is awfully Crazy Horse-ish, in fact. It’s a great song, but missing the layered, psychedelic edge that made their debut single so electrifying.
