Holy shitballs, Dr House has recorded an album. Not satisfied with his Golden Globes and best-selling books, the multi-instrumentalist has harnessed the old soul of New Orleans and a few famous friends to lay down a few classic blues tracks, including St James Infirmary, a song recorded by everyone from Cab Calloway to Louie Armstrong, Billie Holliday to Janis Joplin. Dear Hugh gives it a good crack, but his is one White McWhitey-White voice – his growling gravitas is way too stagey. Points for effort, but: the arrangement is pretty snazzy.
