Nestled in a historic red brick building, formerly known as Hell Tower Saloon, this local gem exudes a captivating aura from the moment you lay eyes on it at the corner of Gipps and Rokeby.

Once inside, you’re greeted by the comforting crackle of an open fire, while every table is abuzz with the chatter of patrons indulging in everything from hearty meals to lively trivia nights. From comforting classics like prawn cakes and toasty cornbread to the mouthwatering allure of smoked meats paired with refreshing sides, every dish is a testament to the rich tapestry of Southern flavours.

The drinks menu is no less impressive, offering an array of exceptional cocktails and an extensive selection of beverages ranging from fine wines to aged whiskies. For a taste of indulgence, we recommend starting with the creamy-mint delight of a Grasshopper or diving into the citrusy paradise of a Hurricane, reminiscent of lazy summer days with its blend of passionfruit, orange, and rum.

Amidst such tempting choices, we opted for the Southern Pride—a decadent set menu that allowed us to savour the essence of New Orleans cooking. From delectable snacks to a lavish spread of smoked meats, including melt-in-your-mouth brisket, hearty chorizo sausages, and generously piled pulled pork, every bite was a symphony of flavors. And let’s not forget the house-made BBQ sauce, effortlessly tying everything together. Accompanied by indulgent sides like skillet mac n’ cheese and zesty coleslaw, it was a feast fit for a king.

To round off the culinary journey, a rich poundcake beckoned, accompanied by a suggestion of pastis or a fine selection of scotch for those seeking a digestive delight. Alternatively, you can opt for the timeless allure of a classic martini, a perfect way to bid farewell to the evening as you let the good times roll.
