Comedy legend Rhys Darby is hitting the stage once again with a brand-new stand-up show, The Legend Returns, set to tour Australia in 2025.

Known for his offbeat humour and physical comedy, Rhys Darby promises a hilarious exploration of staying relevant in a world increasingly dominated by artificial intelligence and robot technology.

As he puts it, “In a world full of AI and robot tech, can a simple dad with slightly tight jeans stay relevant? Ancient astronaut theorists say yes!”

The tour kicks off in April, with six nights at Melbourne’s iconic Athenaeum Theatre from April 8 to April 13. Darby will then bring his show to Thirroul’s Anita’s Theatre on April 23, followed by a performance at The Princess Theatre in Woolloongabba on April 30.

The Legend Returns taps into Darby’s trademark mix of slapstick, sound effects and quirky storytelling, offering audiences a reminder that human silliness might just be the antidote to our tech-driven world.

The show reflects Darby’s journey from a Christchurch cadet who loved making his fellow recruits laugh to an international comedy star known for roles in Flight of the Conchords, Jumanji and Our Flag Means Death.

Fans can expect a performance that’s not just about laughter but also about embracing absurdity and finding joy in the little things. It’s a nod to Darby’s own belief that his unique comedic style — once deemed unconventional  —has never been more necessary.

Darby’s career has been defined by his distinctive humour and versatility, from playing hapless manager Murray Hewitt in Flight of the Conchords to voicing animated characters and penning children’s books. His live shows are a testament to his ability to connect with audiences through humour that’s both universal and deeply personal.

With presales starting soon, comedy fans won’t want to miss the chance to see Darby live in 2025. Prepare for a night of laughter, silliness, and pure Rhys Darby magic.

Tickets go on presale starting November 19, 2024, at 10am AEDT. Get them here.
