It’s been a huge couple of months for King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. After first expanding their Melbourne Gizzfest lineup to include 17 more bands and four more stages, they went ahead and cleaned up at The Age Music Victoria Awards, winning the coveted Best Album award among a slew of others.
Recently, they’ve been cooking up their forthcoming album Flying Microtonal Banana, as well as planning to release five records next year.
“At this point, we have a record that we’re recording with Mild High Club,” said King Gizz vocalist Stu Mackenzie to Beat. “That’s going to be a pretty chill, jazzy, groove record. We’ve started doing some demos for that, and that’ll probably be the loosest record. We have two records that are kind of linked – one more or less leads on from Nonagon, although it’s a little moodier and isn’t as relentless. The other one is different again – we’re getting into territory that we’ve never even thought of before.
