Taeyang first gained global recognition as the lead singer of BIGBANG, one of K-pop’s most influential acts. With over 100 awards to their name, BIGBANG has set records in both the music and live entertainment industries. The group was the first K-pop band to achieve widespread global fame, performing to millions of fans across the Americas, Asia, and Europe. Their legacy includes hits that redefined the genre, with the New York Times listing them among their Best Concerts and MTV Europe awarding them Best Worldwide Act.
Taeyang was the first member of BIGBANG to launch a successful solo career, starting with his debut album Hot, which earned him multiple accolades. His subsequent releases, including Solar and Rise, continued his chart dominance, with the latter producing the hit Eyes, Nose, Lips, which spent five weeks at number one on Korea’s real-time music chart and won Song of the Year across all major Korean award shows. His 2023 comeback single Vibe featuring Jimin of BTS debuted at number 76 on the Billboard Hot 100 and climbed to number nine on the Billboard Global Chart.
Alongside his musical career, Taeyang has made a significant impact on fashion, becoming the face of Calvin Klein’s CK-One campaign and partnering with Fendi on a capsule collection. In 2023, he became the first Korean male global ambassador for Givenchy, further cementing his status as an international icon.
