Joanne’s Real World Comes To The Butterfly Club

Joanne’s Real World is a hysterical cabaret written by Petra Glieson and Taylor Klas that satirises the life of single mother, Joanne, who aims to help every unemployed Australia through her menial Centrelink job. How? By getting them all employed of course!

Though Joanne’s goal sounds altruistic, it’s unattainable, and Joanne remains ignorant of this. Coupled with her ignorance, Joanne must manage her crumbling personal life while maintaining what little amount of control she has to ensure she doesn’t end up in the Centrelink queue.

Joanne’s Real World earned Taylor Klas, who plays Joanne, Best Actress and Best Script awards at the Short+Sweet Festivals in Sydney and Melbourne. Hanna Silver (Tinpan Orange) and Emma McGeorge collaborated with Klas to create all-original music for the production, while co-writer Petra Glieson directed the performance.
