The red-hot jazz ensemble 32 Bars will very soon be touching down at Shotkickers for a massive Sunday session.

32 Bars, Melbourne’s sizzling jazz ensemble, is making waves with their ambitious project to film 32 tunes across the city’s most iconic music venues. With four vocalists and a blistering four-piece horn section, this homegrown group is capturing the essence of Melbourne’s vibrant music scene, one swinging tune at a time. Talk about ambition!

“I knew I had songs inside me. To bring them to life, I needed to write in the style of the great 20th-century composers,” the mastermind behind 32 Bars, Mark Morand shared with Jimmy Hornet Magazine.

32 Bars has been heating up venues throughout the town, from the Night Cat to the Brunswick Ballroom, the Gastrometer to the Paris Cat Jazz Club. The band has already blazed through 18 songs and created a unique musical tapestry that celebrates their sound and the city’s rich musical heritage. Their 18th single, Catapult!, dropped in August, and it’s hotter than Melbourne’s summer.

Next stop: Shotkickers

On September 15, the band will take over Shotkickers to record their 19th song and single Whisper It To Me Baby, inviting jazz enthusiasts and curious music lovers alike to be part of their journey. Featuring the sensational Jennifer Salisbury on vocals, flanked by two duelling baritone saxes, the song will be a true highlight of the performance.

32 Bars proves that jazz is alive, fun and kicking in Melbourne, one venue and one swinging tune at a time. Don’t miss your chance to shimmy and shake your way to Melbourne’s jazz history in the making. Shotkickers is opening its door for you to witness (and dance, of course) the filming of 32 Bars’ 19th hit.
