UK rapper JAY1 is coming to Melbourne for his Australian debut, announcing a show at 170 Russell to kick off his first Australian tour.

JAY1 was originally set to tour Australia in late 2021, but the plans have survived COVID-enforced postponements and now the UK hip hop  star will be coming to Australian shores for four shows from June 2 – 5.

Originally rapping as Young Jay, JAY1 started making music seriously in 2016 after moving to Coventry. Since then he’s released a slew of heavy hitters; 2019’s breakout single ‘Your Mrs’, which hit 1 million views on YouTube after just three days and landed at number 18 on the UK charts.

JAY1 and S1MBA Australian tour dates

  • Thursday June 2 – 170 Russell, Melbourne
  • Friday June 3 – Triffid, Brisbane
  • Saturday June 4 – VividLIVE, Sydney
  • Sunday June 5 – Jack Rabbit Slims, Perth

He also set off on a sold out headline tour of the UK and Ireland, as well as landing a spot on the remix of Russ and Tion Wayne’s ‘Keisha & Becky’. His debut EP One Wave came out that same year, including the singles ‘Good Vibes’ and ‘Mocking It’. 2021 saw the release of the follow up EP One Wave 2.

Joining JAY1 across this tour will be Zimbabwe born, UK based S1MBA. March 2020 saw the release of his single ‘Rover’ which after going viral on TikTok climbed to third on the UK charts, and received a remix by Aussies Hooligan Hefs, Youngn Lipz and Hooks.
