Matsumura presents the inaugural concert of an exciting new Jailhouse Concert Series at the historic 1888 Kew Court House in the heart of Kew, Victoria, on Saturday, 7 June 2025.
This concert will feature the talented duo, Come Heavy Sleep, as Rosie Luby and Kier Stevens join forces to deliver a captivating folk noir performance. Rosie will play the cello while Kier will play the dobro (resonator guitar). Both artists are extraordinary vocalists with Kier’s voice offering earthly deep and powerful notes. This is counterbalanced perfectly by Rosie’s angelic, timeless and haunting voice. Rosie will sing an ancient Icelandic folk song as part of Come Heavy Sleep’s performance.

The Kew Court House offers an intimate performance space where the history of this property still seeps from the walls. The red brick court house and lock up complex was once at risk of being demolished. It has been redeveloped into a live performance space in the ornate former Magistrates Court. You can still view the old lock up cells in the foyer, which have been well preserved.
Doors open at 7.30pm
