The Time After Now by Anne Freeman [Book Launch]

Join Anne Freeman for the launch of The Time After Now at New Guernica’s Attic Room — an iconic Melbourne venue that has hosted some of the world’s finest international techno and house acts, and a fitting backdrop for a novel that revisits the intensity of youth and the choices that reverberate long after the music fades.

The afternoon will also feature live music from Matt Radovich, a powerhouse of Melbourne’s electronic music scene with more than three decades behind the decks. A founding member of the legendary Melbourne Techno Collective and longtime staple of Stable Music, Matt has supported global heavyweights including Aphex Twin, Laurent Garnier, Jeff Mills and Richie Hawtin, and continues to define Melbourne’s techno culture both at home and internationally.

Anne Freeman will be in conversation with Marion Osmond, exploring how personal history can be transformed into fiction, the power of Own Voices storytelling, and the long shadow of youth. Together they will discuss power and consent in a digital age, breaking the Madonna–whore myth, and the radical self-acceptance that comes from owning our truth.

Your ticket includes a glass of sparkling wine (or soft drink), along with sweet treats, prizes and a few surprises.

About The Time After Now

If it wasn’t for what Olivia did, would Drew still be alive?

Twenty years after the love affair Olivia never got over, Drew dies suddenly on a shoot in Iceland, taking with him the promise to guard their intimate photos.

When the images resurface with an anonymous threat of exposure, Olivia’s picture-perfect suburban life is thrown into jeopardy. How can she keep playing the flawless barrister’s wife if her past of avant-garde art, warehouse raves, drugs, and debauchery is revealed?

Desperate for counsel, she prepares to confide in her best friend but Miriam needs support with her own challenges, and the stakes couldn’t be higher.

Can Olivia outrun her past to protect her future, or will she be forced to reconcile the vibrant oil painting she once was with the fading watercolour she’s become?

Please note: the Attic Room is located on the top floor and there is no lift access. If you have any accessibility questions, please contact the organiser.
