I dunno. Paul Banks’ washed-out croon intro to All The Rage Back Home is a bit flaccid. Not exactly track-ruining, but Interpol’s greatest strength has always been their ability to open with a killer vocal/lyrical hook. The track gets there with the snap into up-tempo jaunt. It’s not classic Interpol, but it’s reminiscent of classic Interpol. The pieces are there, but they don’t quite fit. Also here’s a confession: I’ve always thought Antics > TOTBL. So there’s that.
