Australia has long embraced the American singer/songwriter and bassist, elevating her to number one on multiple singles and celebrating her dynamic live performances since her first tour in 1974.
Reflecting on her career, Quatro says, “Looking back on my career, 60 years now in the ‘biz’, and now my 40th tour of Australia, I still can’t believe it. Since my first time in 1974, with two tours that year, I totally fell head over heels for Australia, with the country and the people, everything about it.”
Quatro has remained a leading figure in the rock and roll scene, also contributing to radio broadcasting. At 74, she continues to live by her motto, never idle and always moving.
Recent milestones include the release of her documentary, Suzi Q, in 2019. The film debuted in Australia, the UK, and Europe, and was released in the USA post-COVID. It received critical acclaim, earning 4 and 5 stars in media reviews. Additionally, 2023 marked the 50th anniversary of ‘Can The Can’ reaching number one.
Her recent album releases include The Devil in Me (2021), a collaboration with her son Richard, Uncovered (2022) on the Sun record label, and a duet album with KT Tunstall, Face to Face (August). Quatro’s enduring career continues to push forward, and she remains a strong contender for a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame honour.
