The Hive City Legacy project has already seen successful chapters created in partnership with Roundhouse London and Dublin Fringe. Each chapter involves Hot Brown Honey collaborating with local artists to create a brand-new show that showcases local talent while maintaining the collective’s signature high-energy style.

Lisa Fa’alafi, Director of Hive City Legacy, explains the genesis of the project: “When touring Hot Brown Honey, artists are constantly reaching out to us to ask: ‘How can I become a Hot Brown Honey? What do I need to do to make work like this?’ Our ethos is to create platforms and pathways. We created Hive City Legacy to ACTIVATE this genuine interest in our work, mobilising Femmes of Colour to share their stories centrestage. Our ambition is to create Hive City Legacy in Chapters all over the world – expanding the Hive while connecting artists and audiences.”

Music Director Busty Beatz adds: “Hot Brown Honey believes the Arts have the capacity to transform the world. Through the Hive City Legacy project we work with a League of Extraordinary Femmes to create unapologetic and genre defying experiences which challenge, uplift and inspire audiences to make noise! We are here. We are loud. We are taking up space – and we are doing it with the power of performance.”

Each Hive City Legacy production is shaped through professional development, mentorship, skill-sharing and collective collaboration. The result is urgent, unapologetic performances that reclaim space, disrupt narratives, challenge the status quo and shift paradigms.

Hot Brown Honey has earned critical acclaim internationally, winning Helpmann, Green Room, and UK Total Theatre Awards for their boundary-pushing work. Vancouver Presents described the collective as “more than a show – its a movement,” a sentiment that resonates strongly with their mission to decolonise stages around the world.

The Naarm chapter represents an important moment for the Australian arts landscape, offering a platform for local BIPOC femme voices while connecting them to a global community of artists engaged in similar work. Tickets for this limited season are now available.
