Holy moly! Melbourne’s donut festival is back

donut festival

Name one thing better than fried dough. You can't.

The Queen Victoria Market is well known as a donut hot spot – those jam-filled delights from the American Donut Kitchen are an absolute must-try for foodies visiting the city.

But next month, they’re kicking their dough game up a notch with a full, two-day festival dedicated to our favourite bready snack. The event is in its third year and has become a beloved fixture of the QVM’s winter calendar.

Donut Festival 2023

  • The Queen Victoria Market will host its third donut festival this June 3 and 4 from 9am to 4pm in the C and D sheds
  • There will be a whole range of sweet and salty offerings, including vegan and gluten-free varieties
  • The event is free to enter

Stay up to date with what’s happening in and around Melbourne here.

Find nutella-topped churro donuts, traditional Greek loukoumades, Golden Gaytime glazed creations and even savory spaghetti and mac-and-cheese donuts. Is the world really ready for that kind of food fusion? We’re not sure, but it’ll have to be.

The donut extravaganza will bring together some of the city’s finest bakers in the market’s C and D sheds. Shortstop, Jamm’d Dessert Bar, St Gerry’s, OMG Decadent Donuts and Daniels Donuts will be among those offering up their goods.

To celebrate the versatility of the humble treat, the market will feature donuts of every shape and form. Sweet and savory, simple and extravagant, holey and cream-filled: there will be something to suit every craving. Peruse through the rest of the market to grab a coffee or hot cocoa to wash it all down.
