The Burn City Project is the debut collaborative album by talented Melbourne producer and emcee Dimes and Philly artist Daz Jones. The duo have just dropped the music video for their latest track Elements, a jazzy hip hop delight with chill-out vibes and smooth piano chords. The song is an ode to the golden era of hip hop, driven by sampled bass lines and accentuated by relaxed drums. The Burn City Project is the successful outcome of both artists recording in the studio together on two separate occasions. The ten-track album is inspired by the sounds of the underground New York hip hop movement.

Takeaway Coffee is the newest release from Melbourne-based artist Requiem. Airy, ethereal sounds weave between thought-provoking lyrics and existential contemplation, comparing life to takeaway coffee as “amazing, but disposable.” The song ponders the mundane spectacles of daily existence and the inevitable reality of getting older. Take a minute to check out the track’s colourful dream-like visuals, which highlights the beautiful simplicities of life. Requiem is no stranger to the scene, releasing his album Louvres while living in Darwinback in 2015. He’s supported some of the biggest names in Australian hip hop including Illy, Drapht, Horroshow, Jimblah and Seth Sentry.

Join the Thank Guard crew as they launch their new club night this Saturday September 30. There will be live performances by Australian hip hop artists Swell, GRMLNS, Ojikae, Lil Bo Weep and many more. Make sure to head on down for opening night and show your support for the local hip hop industry.
