High Score 2025 returns to Melbourne this October with an impressive lineup of industry legends.
Game audio professionals are in for a treat when High Score 2025 lands at ACMI for two days of deep dives into the creative and technical sides of interactive sound. Part of Melbourne International Games Week, this Victorian government initiative brings together composers, sound designers and developers for what promises to be an essential weekend of industry connection and inspiration.
Hosted by award-winning presenter Angharad ‘Rad’ Yeo and curated by Amy McNickle, High Score 2025 explores everything from adaptive sound design to the business side of working in games. The program showcases global leaders alongside acclaimed Victorian and Australian talent, making it perfect for professionals, students and anyone looking to break into game audio.

Highlights across the weekend include Pete Ward from MachineGames sharing behind-the-scenes insights into reimagining the iconic Indiana Jones score for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. Australian composing legend Michael Allen, fresh from receiving the inaugural APRA AMCOS Screen Music Award for Games, will reflect on his creative journey and acclaimed work on Solium Infernum.
Sarah Wolfe brings her expertise in blending hyperpop with genre innovation through her work on Don’t Stop Girlypop! and Mystiques: Haunted Antiques, while Spoonful of Wonder reveals how voice performance enhances emotional depth in their title Copycat.
Indies get their moment too, with sessions on how FMOD-powered soundscapes elevate storytelling in Cozy Caravan and Call of the Golden Valley. For those looking at the business side, Gordon McGladdery from A Shell in the Pit covers everything from contracts and licensing to the Digital Games Tax Offset and AI’s impact on the industry.
More speakers are set to be announced, with early bird pricing available now. Travel bursaries are also on offer for eligible applicants, with the deadline extended to 5 September.
