Groundbreaking endometriosis documentary Below the Belt to be screened in Melbourne for the first time

Below The Belt

Endokind is set to host the first in-person Melbourne screening of this powerfully intimate documentary film.

Below the Belt follows the journeys of four women living with endometriosis, as they navigate their diagnosis and find ways to cope with the challenges of this debilitating chronic illness. The screening will take place at the Thornbury Picture House on March 26 and proceeds from the screening will go directly to the film’s Action Plan, which you can learn more about here.

Endometriosis affects 1 in 9 women worldwide, yet it often goes undiagnosed for an average of 10 years. During this time, women are dismissed, discounted, and disbelieved about their symptoms, which are often wrongly attributed to being ‘just part of being a woman’. Below the Belt sheds light on the difficulties faced by women with endometriosis as they navigate their diagnosis and their lives with this chronic illness.

Through its powerful and intimate storytelling, Below the Belt brings a much-needed personal and relatable perspective to a disease that lacks key awareness and education. Executive Producers Hillary Rodham Clinton, Rosario Dawson, Corinne Foxx, and Mae Whitman, along with award-winning editors Christopher Seward and Mary Lampson, have teamed up to make a tribute to the strength of women and a stirring call for change.

Endokind, an Australian-based online mental health counselling practice for women, girls, and gender-diverse individuals living with endometriosis, will officially launch in 2023.
