A little piece of Greece coming to Cinema Como.
Greece: islands, Mount Olympus, Athens… and a growing film industry. You may be wondering why you’d ever want to leave, though thankfully some did because without them we may not have the Greek Film Festival.
Palace Cinema Como, on the corner of Toorak road and Chapel street in South Yarra, has the soul honor of showing the 17th Greek Film Festival which kicks off in Melbourne and runs from Wednesday October 13 to Sunday October 31. Hitting the big screen are feature films, documentaries and a student film competition, with actors and directors taking the stage as special guests.
There are classic tales of survival, ancestry and life on show, not to mention zombies and Billy Zane in Evil in the Time of Heroes. Willem Defoe also stars in another film, The Dust of Time, an epic that sprawls across five countries. Then there’s the documentary arTherapy, which follows three artists around Athens as they follow their art. There are also crowd pleasers like Nisos, and many others.
Tickets go on sale from tomorrow, Tuesday September 14, both online and by phone. For more information, including the full schedule of films and tickets, check out
