On Saturday, Smillie celebrates his 500th show and ten years of showcasing dance music on the Nova network. He’ll do a special two hour show which will include interviews with top names including Example, Axwell, The Bloody Beetroots, Rudimental, Pete Tong, Steve Angello, Disclosure and Flight Facilities.

“It’s great that after 10 years on air we’re still premiering some of the most cutting edge dance music and consistently getting the world’s biggest DJs and producers on the show,” he said. “Since we started there has been an explosion in popularity of dance music and hopefully we are breaking some great Australian artists not only here but internationally.”

He’s also announced 500th celebration live shows in four cities. The Melbourne date is Saturday November 2, at Billboard.

Smillie started out on Nova hosting the music show Fusion. He was then joined by DJ John Course, and the pair presented over 200 shows as Overdrive every Saturday night. In 2010 he began his current show The Weekend. He’s also made his mark as owner of Neon Records and 360 agency, as well as being a producer and TV host. His production outfit TV Rock has hit No. 1 in the club charts in six countries and its Flaunt It still holds the record for for the most time spent in the Australian club chart top 10.

In recent weeks he’s been in the US to set up a club in Los Angeles and next year plans to launch Neon and 360 overseas.
