Next year’s festival was due to be held on the Labour Day long weekend.
It’s official, Golden Plains will not go ahead in 2021 due to the uncertainty around COVID-19. Next year’s iteration of the beloved festival was scheduled to take place in March across the Labour Day long weekend.
“The Space-Time Continuum has wibbled, and it has webbled, but it has not wobbled open wide enough to grant safe passage for Golden Plains this Autumn,” said the organisers in a statement.
“When favourable atmospheric conditions return, the full, rolled-gold, four-dimensional GP experience will land again. All dancing, all singing from the same songbook, in a close encounter of the Fifteenth kind. One more spin around the sun should do the trick.”
While the news is disheartening, there is a glimmer of hope in the promise that Aunty Meredith will be focused on preparing for the 30th instalment of GP’s big sister, Meredith, next year.
