From businesses to houses, these Melbourne graffiti artists transform average to spectacular

It Stands Out

With It Stands Out, Daniel Van De Wiel is putting his skills to work.

Try to imagine Melbourne without its street art. Long rides on the train spend gazing at undecorated concrete, the flamboyant AC/DC laneway reduced to blank brick and cobblestones. Without street art, the city loses so much of its characteristic charm.

Melbourne’s reputation for great graffiti is known across the globe. And we’re proud of it – having emerged from the city’s ability to foster creativity, subculture and DIY ethos, our street art is a visual representation of the vibrancy of the people who live here.

Though often graffiti happens out of sight, there’s always someone behind the work. One of those artists is Daniel Van De Wiel. After spending the part 25 years honing his craft, meeting other artists in the scene and travelling across the world to learn new tricks and skills, he’s turned his passion into a business – It Stands Out Graffiti Artists – which transforms spaces from drab to dazzling.

His street art and mural company helps businesses, homes and public spaces add a little colour to their facades. Daniel has teamed up with some of the city’s finest painters to provide visually-appealing business solutions to those who seek to prevent unwanted vandalism, draw attention to their business or just provide those walking by with something beautiful to look at.

“Every project always considers meeting the client’s needs meshed with the purpose of the space itself, its location and its relationship to the community,” says Daniel.
