Floating Points To Headline A Party At The Coburg Velodrome

velodrone.jpg

For the past ten years, Sam Shepard aka Floating Points has built his global reputation around DJ sets that incorporate vinyl only sessions of jazz, soul, disco, Brazilian and electronica. He will be taking the stage in Melbourne off the back of his debut album, Elaenia released on his newly established label Pluto.

After moving from Manchester to London for university (a PhD in neuroscience), Shepard spent the next five years engineering the record, drawing inspiration from classical, jazz, electronic music, soul and Brazilian popular music.

Coburg Velodrome, established in 1976, will be transformed into a dance arena for the night, which features other artists including Wax’o Paradiso, J’Nett and Miss Goldie.

More used to hosting cycling events, Freedom Time #2 will be the velodromes inaugural music event, converting the underpass and 250m Olympic sized concrete cycling track for the night.
