Face The Music is Australia’s most forward-thinking music summit. So start your drum rolls, get your calendars out and have your friends at the ready because the first announcement of speakers is here.

After releasing his 11th album, Dedicated to Bobby Jameson, Ariel Pink will be revealing the stimulus behind the album, including the influence of the late heralded US songwriter Jameson as well as his trying past, where for periods at a time he was living on the edge of homelessness and addiction.

Torontonian DJ, rapper, actor and writer Chippy Nonstop will also be dropping in to host a series of artist-run seminars about the gender and sexuality imbalance in the music industry.

There’s also Marky Ramone, the drummer on over ten of the Ramones’ albums. The great music wizard will be answering all your eager questions about his records, shows and the industry. Check out his revealing memoir, Punk Rock Blitzkrieg: My Life as a Ramone, prior to get a special taste.

Brisbane teenager and emerging hip hop artist, Mallrat, will also be speaking. Her rise has been metronomic. Touring with Allday was just the start, she’s since played in clubs all around the country even though she’s not old enough to be let in.

Other speakers include triple j music director, Nick Findlay as well as world-renowned music programmer, Bjørn Pfarr, who puts together stellar lineups year after year at Hamburg music festival and conference, Reeperbahn.

On top of that, FKP Scorpio booking agent Silke Westera (Amy Shark, Alex Lahey) will also be there alongside another hotshot booker in Rebecca Young (Jen Cloher, GL). Yes, there’s more. Anika Mottershaw, the project manager for record label, Bella Union (Beach House, Father John Misty), will arrive. Plus choreographer and activist Amrita Hepi, journalist Monica Tan and music supervisor Nicole Prutch.
