Face the Music announce more speakers for 2017

Face the Music is celebrating it’s tenth birthday. One crisp decade. And for their tenth birthday they’ll only settle for A-listers.

Firstly our very own Editor Gloria Brancatisano returns as a panelist after last years overwhelming response. Adding to the lineup of guests is  writer Giselle Au-Nhien Ngyen who is currently working on her first book, Mikey Cahill will be talking about his eleven years of experience including talking to Nick Cave, and writing about Meredith and acts that rose such as Tame Impala and Courtney Barnett.

Additionally Face the Music has landed Double J’s music programmer Jacinta Parsons, Cherly Waters, host of The Midday Show and On-Air Events Coordinator at KEXP Seattle radio, and Michael Pohl, Managing Director of Kontor New Media in Germany. 

Filmmaker Claudia Sangiorgi Dalimore and photographer Michelle Grace Hunter will both be gracing us with their presence with an exclusive screening of Her Sound, Her Story a project documenting creative women.

Beyond the Valley owner and director Nick Greco will be sharing his stories of inspiration from clubs, to festivals and beyond. Plus Leanne de Souza, Founder and Director of Rock and Roll Writers Festival and a board member of both Queensland’s Performing Arts Trust and Queensland’s Music Network, Pixie Wayland director of Brisbane’s The Zoo and The Gasometer’s Alex Gleeson.

Drummer turned activist, Lindy Morrison is sharing her knowledge of writing, activism, social work and politics. Also attending is David Ridler, is a New Zealand music plugger from the 2000’s who now fronts NZ On Air’s music funding and promotional work. Not to mention Joel Ma, Music Program Officer at Multicultural Arts Victoria.

Charlotte Reid from Michael Parisi Management and Remote Control’s Georgia Cooke discuss what the industry is like from a younger perspective.

Artists lined up for Face the Music include Yeo, who has just released his album Desire Path, Kirin J Callinan will be a special guest at Face the Music’s live cooking demonstration, as well as Kish Lal, Brooke Powers, Chippy Nonstop, and Mallrat appearing at the summit.

Performances include Hachiku and Slowly Slowly on Thursday November 23 and Stella Donnelly, Party Dozen, The Ocean Party, Angie McMahon, Robert Muinos and Chippy Nonstop DJ on Friday November 24.

Free music will apear around Melbourne’s CBD on both nights.
