Dune Rats announce Australian ‘Real Rare Whale’ launch parties

Dune Rats

Dune Rats have announced their ‘Real Rare Whale’ album launch parties tour with four-dates across Australia.

With their fourth studio album Real Rare Whale hitting shelves on Friday July 29, Dune Rats will undertake a string of intimate shows at a combination of out-of-the-box venues.

Dune Rats gig locations include a Melbourne warehouse, a Brisbane bowlo, an Adelaide arts factory and a pub takeover in Sydney. Dunies will play the new album start to finish and ice the cake with a few of the hits from albums past.

Fans will have the chance to meet Dune Rats at Soundmech in Collingwood at an all-ages record-sigining event between 4pm to 6pm. Then it’s off to The Industrique in Coburg North from 8pm. The venue will become a shrine to Dunies with a Lee McConnell art installation, David ‘BunnyMan’ Herington photo exhibition and Dune Rats will perform Real Rare Whale live. A special secret act will also perform.

Real Rare Whale follows on from their consecutive number-one ARIA albums, 2020’s Hurry Up And Wait and 2017’s The Kids Will Know It’s Bullshit. Recorded with acclaimed producer Scott Horscroft, the band relocated to Eden on the south coast of New South Wales for three months at the height of the pandemic and set out to write an album that was opposite to the negativity going on in the world.

“So very psyched for this album launch tour,” the band say. “Real Rare Whale is hands down the fastest, funnest and most insane album we’ve ever recorded. It’s an album that expresses the love of music and writing songs. Songs that will be epic to play live to thousands of sweaty bodies having a great time.”

“We wanted to do something special for these shows in each city that’s outside of the box and more intimate from the shows we would usually play. We’re keen to play the new album from start to finish in celebration plus a bunch of favourites from over the years. See yas there.”
