Alessio has been put in charge of developing the digital strategy for Sounds Australia, doing what he is passionate about, promoting local artists to international markets, this time by leveraging with curated digital services.

“You’d be hard pressed to find anyone that knows about and has supported more Australian artists throughout their career,” says executive producer Millie Millgate. “Hard-working, passionate and knowledgeable are just the surface of traits that make Dom the perfect choice to join Sounds Australia’s cheer squad.”

The official title is digital export producer and the responsibilities Alessio faces are supporting Sounds Australia’s international program by using streaming platforms to fast-track the success of Australian musicians worldwide. He will be pitching to global playlists and tastemaker blogs in advance of international showcase conferences such as SXSW.

Alessio will also be updating Sound Australia’s digital presence, transforming it from just a curated library and educational resource into a content discovery portal. On top of all this he will be responsible for creating Sounds Australia’s own playlists.

“I’m so excited to be joining Sounds Australia,” says Dom Alessio. “They’re some of the hardest working, most well-respected people in the Australian music industry. Australia is producing some of the best music in the world right now and I can’t wait to be part of a team that helps spread that word around the globe.”

In the past Alessio has awarded many internationally successful Australian acts their first national airplay captaining triple j’s week night show Home & Hosed since 2009. In 2006, Alessio co-founded the first music blog solely dedicated to Australian music, curating a digital signpost that promoted local talent named Who the Bloody Hell Are They?
