David Hirschfelder and Mindy Meng Wang to perform live at Darebin Arts Centre

Words by Staff Writer

Oscar-nominated and BAFTA-winning composer and pianist David Hirschfelder is teaming up with world-renowned Guzheng artist Mindy Meng Wang for an extraordinary night of music at Darebin Arts Centre.

This one-night-only event on November 8 will showcase a powerful blend of ancient Chinese poetry and contemporary music, brought to life through the collaboration of these two acclaimed artists.

David and Mindy’s compositions for this special performance are inspired by the poetry of Tsangyang Gyatso, the sixth Dalai Lama, whose verses explore the inner conflict between his worldly desires and the teachings of Buddhism. Their music reflects the profound emotions found in Gyatso’s poetry, creating an immersive experience that speaks to themes of love, freedom, and spiritual struggle.
