CORROSION OF CONFORMITY TOUR!
US punk/metal pioneers, Corrosion of Conformity (bassist/vocalist Mike Dean, drummer/vocalist Reed Mullin and guitarist Woody Weatherman) exploded onto the US heavy scene way back in the early ‘80s. The trio made their mark with an unrelenting live show and signature crushing riffs. In 1985 they released what would become one of the most important heavy crossover records of all time… ANIMOSITY. This unparalleled megalith of an album is hailed by both critics and fans as the ultimate rock/punk/metal mash up. After nearly 30 years of musical trailblazing, you would think a rest would be on the agenda. Instead of resting on their laurels, Corrosion of Conformity hunkered down and cooked up a brand new batch of fireballs for your stereo. Their newest full-length effort (titled IX) is set for release this June, just ahead of their ambitious 2014 Australian/NZ tour. They’ll be at 170 Russell on Sunday July 20. Advance tickets are $60 on sale Friday May 2 or $70 at the door. For more info visit redlinemusic.com.au, facebook.com/redinetouring coc.com, weedmetal.com or lookandbehold.net
ACCEPT TO TOUR
Classic heavy metal was shaped essentially by three highly influential bands: Judas Priest, Iron Maiden and Accept. Two of these legendary acts have graced our shores several times but now finally Australia gets to witness the might of the “Teutonic Terror” themselves for the very first time. That’s right, Accept are touring Australia in November. All tickets – including VIP meet and greet packages – will go on sale 9am Friday May 2. They’ll be at the Corner Hotel on Saturday November 15.
NINE SONS OF DAN TOUR
Nine Sons of Dan have come along way since their days as a university band project. With their third EP Used Up primed for a May 9 release and a national launch tour taking in New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland from May 22, the six-track compilation introduces an edgier and slightly darker approach to the band. “This EP was a chance for us to show-case the songs that we always wanted to have on our records,” says singer Jay Bainbridge. “We took a lot of risks, we didn’t want to be safe and at the end of the day music is art and I think this EP will also allow us to meet some new people and the true NSOD fans to grow with us.” They’ll be at POW, Werribee on Friday June 6 (tickets at the door), and Wrangler Studios (all ages, tickets from Oztix) on June 7. Special guests Far Away Stables.
ANNIE & BERN RELEASE DEBUT
Melbourne duo Annie & Bern are launching their album Here Comes the Love at the Bridge Hotel Castlemaine on Sunday May 11, Glenlyon General Store on Friday May 16, Cosmopolitan Hotel Trentham on Sunday May 18, Rundell & Rundell Kyneton on Friday May 23, and Grace Darling Hotel Collingwood on Saturday May 24. They’re heavily influenced by the greats of the British ‘60s scene of Lulu, Sandie Shaw, The Beatles, Gerry & The Pacemakers and The Kinks, delivered with their own special modern bent.
ORDER OF CHAOS
Order of Chaos are a three-piece veteran metal group from Melbourne, featuring former members of King Parrot, Damaged, Blood Duster and Earth. The track Dead on Arrival is the first taste of the trio’s upcoming album, and you can hear it on Soundcloud now. The album Deadweight Undertow is a mixture of the band’s roots in death metal with their mid-era metallic hardcore smarts and new -ound punk undertones. Recorded live in two days at Jam Hut studio with guitar and vocal overdubs later on, the album was mixed and mastered by Jason P.C at his Goatsound Studio in Melbourne. Deadweight Undertow will see the light of day in mid-2014. Stay tuned for more info.
