So then, what’s the band name and what do you ‘do’ in the band?
Major Tom & The Atoms. I’m Major Tom. I yell at the Atoms.
What do you reckon people will say you sound like?
Like a drill sergeant when I’m yelling at the Atoms, but like “A musical safari of howling blues, psychedelic comic book soundtrack and bone-crunching rock” when we’re rocking out.
What do you love about making music?
Playing in a band is like emotional group sex with your mates.
What do you hate about the music industry?
Hate the fact that music takes a back-seat to sport in our society, despite being better for the economy and better for the fragile egg-shell minds of our youth.
If you could travel back in time and show one of your musical heroes your stuff, who would it be and why?
I’d be intimidated, but I suppose Jim Morrison, cos I’m sure he’d be interested in me as a man from the future, even if he doesn’t like my tunes.
If you could assassinate one person or band from popular music, who would it and why?
Plenty of industry people come to mind, but unless Tony Abbott takes up violin, I would never assassinate a musician.
What can a punter expect from your live show?
More energy than six Energiser bunnies on Sudafed. More passion than bowl of passion-fruits. More grooves than a record collection.
What’ve you got to sell CD-wise?
Boom Boom Boom is the new single from our debut album Heroes, Villains, Boom Boom Boom. Check it out!
When’s the gig and with who?
To launch our new single we have a residency at Cherry Bar titled Jim, Janis, Jimi & Drake. Each week we’ll pay tribute to these great artists with covers, DJ sets and special guest vocalists. Wednesdays in May!
Anything else to add?
It’s gonna be a lot better if you’re there to see it.
