On The Record With… Four Hours Sleep

1. The First Record I Bought:

Johnny Winter And Live. I liked the fast guitar and rough voice. I liked 12-bar blues back then.

2. The Last Record I Bought:

Adalita – All Day Venus. I wanted to listen to it properly on my big speakers to appreciate the recording quality and songs. I wasn’t disappointed.

3. The First Thing I Recorded:

The first thing I properly recorded was my friend telling his fishing stories and me putting music to them.

4. The Last Thing I Recorded:

A version of the disco song We Are Beautiful by Fern Kinney. It’s a great song and it was number 1 for one week in 1980.

5. The Record That Changed My Life:

I was driving along one day and I heard Hotwire My Heart by Sonic Youth. I think it is on the album Sister. I was not particularly young at the time but it revealed how I could combine several ideas I was interested in within one song. Suddenly it was really obvious.

FOUR HOURS SLEEP (plus guests) launch their brand new self-titled album on Wednesday May 7 at the Toff In Town with special guest Freya Josephine Hollick.
