AJ Maddah has again, spoken candidly on his twitter account, this time confirming that Hole have pulled out of the festival before saying “TBH, I am relieved we got the moody old cow off the bill. I only put her on after a campaign of harassment!” Later on Sunday night he elaborated further “No point taking her back, only for her to cancel later or turn up and act like a rotten twat.” It seems surprising that Maddah’s tendency to publicly slander bands hasn’t seemed to affect the high calibre of artists that sign up for his festival. You’d think bands management may be hesitant to deal with the controversial promoter who is notorious for airing the intimate details of his business transactions to his many fascinated followers. Not to mention his fondness for name calling when said transactions go awry. Still, his many tweets continue to provide fascinating insight into the world of live music promotion. Though Maddah’s form is mostly brutal it reveals some harsh truths about an incredibly competitive industry and all in the form of a saucy Spanish soap opera, straight to our twitter feeds. After a very successful Weekender Festival, Poison City Records have decided to host a Christmas show this December 16. A Death In The Family, The Smith Street Band, The Hawaiian Islands and Luca Brasi are all scheduled to take on The Tote in a show of Christmas cheer. Tickets are available now.
The Getaway Plan have announced a Melbourne in-store to coincide with the release of their new albumRequiem. The band will appear at JB HiFi on Elizabeth St on Friday November 4 from 5.00pm. They’ll be signing copies of the new album and posters will be available for free.
Make Do And Mend have revealed that their next release will be an acoustic EP titled Part and Parcel this November. It’s an interesting decision considering crowds at their most recent acoustic performances seemed divided as to whether the band was any good unplugged. Everytime I Die have announced that their old bassist Steve Micciche will rejoin the band following the departure of Josh Newton. Newton left the band to “pursue a real human job” (WHYYYYY!!?!?!?!) and Micciche will step in to join the band on their upcoming tour with Gwar.
ARIA have revealed some interesting contender for the ‘Best Hard Rock/Heavy Metal album’ category of this year’s awards. Coerce, Cosmic Psychos, Dream On Dreamer, Floating Me and Front End Loader are all competing for the award which was nabbed last year by Resist heavyweights Parkway Drive. Will you’re keen to catch Coerce, they’ve just announced some final headlining shows for 2012. They’ll play on Friday December 9 at the East Brunswick Club with Black Level Embassy, Nuclear Sumer and Palisades.
Emmure have fired their drummer Mike Kaabe after some very petty disputes regarding posting on the band’s Facebook. Yes, really. Apparently Kaabe was informed that he was fired via text message. His recent statement concludes, “Frank [Palmeri, vocalist]is a passive aggressive pissy baby”. Nice.
In news that surprised absolutely no one, Brokencyde have cancelled their upcoming Australian tour. Their excuse? “The band were overwhelmed with so much negative feedback over the age restrictions and felt that doing the tour in age-restricted venues wasn’t fair to a large portion of their fan base”. *COUGH*. Mmm yes.
House Vs Hurricane has announced that vocalist Chris Dicker will part ways with the band after one final headlining tour. Dicker wrote, “I’ve made the choice to be truthful to higher priorities in my life at this point. I’ll continue to play music always, just not in such a full-time capacity”. The band will play one final Melbourne show at Bang on November 19 before heading to the studio to record a new album with a new vocalist.
