The new performance CRYSTAL from Cirque du Soleil is not to be missed.

Their usual approach to circus performances is impressive enough, to add the ice-skating factor is a colossal methodology towards wow-ing audiences like they’ve never done before.

Expect an adrenaline rush with this performance. However, also expect to be absorbed by a touching tale of identity. The protagonist behind the story, Crystal, is a playful, curious soul. On her journey of self-discovery, the character is taken through all the facets of becoming who she was meant to be. It’s a very successful artistic narrative that is executed flawlessly throughout.

Being the group’s 42nd creation, it’s no surprise that they truly have the experience to immerse the audience in a circus wonder. Using traditional circus methods such as juggling and hand balancing, it’s as if they told themselves doing it on solid ground wasn’t challenging enough.

Of course, ice skating will be incorporated into this performance as much as the traditional circus fields. It’s the first time the group has performed figure skating and extreme skating in a show.

Based in Montreal Canada, Cirque du Soleil has re-imagined what circus can be. By including locals and giving the opportunity to performers in over 70 countries since the organisation’s beginning, it’s no surprise that CRYSTAL won’t be their last re-conceptualisation.
