Chris Shiflett : West Coast Town

Country music is synonymous with Nashville and having played host to so many historical musical moments, it’s no surprise that Chris Shiftlett’s new album West Coast Town was recorded there. Opening with Sticks and Stones, the electric guitar on this album is as ballsy and rock’n’roll as you can get. It’s country music yes, but not as you know it.

This is an album that is easy to digest in one sitting. It’s widely touted that the producer has a big role on the overall sound of an album and working with Dave Cobb – who has previously worked with Jason Isbell and Chris Stapleton – Shiftlett adequately hits the mark with album number three.

West Coast Town has been on repeat in my house for a few weeks and there’s a dark rhythmic groove in I’m Still Drunk that keeps me coming back for more. Even country music naysayers will be converted.
