The pinnacle of his success came with the release of his platinum-selling debut studio album, Built On Glass, in 2014, which quickly skyrocketed to the top of the ARIA Chart.

“I became kind of obsessed with that question of ‘what do I believe in?’ I had had this success and everyone said it was supposed to be great, but I was still feeling kind of empty,” Chet Faker told Beat in a 2019 interview.

“It felt kind of shallow. I didn’t really get a kick out of popularity or people telling me how good I was. What I really wanted to do was express myself and learn about myself through music.”

The album’s profound impact on the music scene earned him three spots in triple j’s hottest 100, with Talk Is Cheap reigning supreme as the number one track.

“The music says what I want to say. I just hope people can gain some kind of self-growth out of it. For me, it’s a chapter of really important self-discovery. I really hope that people can get something similar out of it, and if not, can enjoy a song or two.”

Now, fresh off the back of a successful multi-continent tour in 2021, in support of his album Hotel Surrender, Chet Faker is all set to mesmerise Melbourne once again.

Tickets go on sale August 7 for Frontier Members and August 8 for everyone else. Grab them by heading here.
