There’s a lot of doom and gloom in the news, but not every story needs a hard-hitting headline. That’s where The Cheap Seats comes in, back on 10 for a sixth season this April.
Hosts Melanie Bracewell and Tim McDonald are back scouring the week’s news for the unmissable, unbelievable and genuinely unhinged updates you didn’t know you needed.
Cultural Correspondent Mel Tracina also returns to handle the softer stuff, including whatever’s happening on the Archipelago of Love Islands.
Season five delivered an exclusive sit-down with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, beatboxing from Reggie Watts and an on-air moment from Lynne McGranger that nobody saw coming.
The Cheap Seats even took its very first World Tour (one city, one night only, but still). Season 6 promises more special guests, celebrity cameos and red carpet dispatches.
From Working Dog, the team behind Have You Been Paying Attention?, The Cheap Seats has hit its stride as one of the sharpest comedy formats on Australian television.
Whether you’ve followed every headline or deliberately avoided them all week, Tuesday nights just got a lot more fun.

Taskmaster Australia season 3 is here, and Tom Gleeson’s rules still apply.
Taskmaster Australia season 3 sees Gleeson return alongside loyal sidekick Tom Cashman, with Rove McManus, Celia Pacquola, Anisa Nandaula, Brett Blake and Joel Creasey all competing for Gleeson’s cranium in gold trophy form.
Expect the full spread of random, ridiculous challenges this season: epic winks, flying discs, puzzles with cumbersome costumes and whatever else Gleeson has pulled from his bag of tricks. In his house, it’s his rules, which means anything is fair game.
Seasons one and two established Taskmaster Australia as cult television, and season 3 has a lineup with serious range. Whether the new cast plays by the rules or spectacularly ignores them, it’s going to make for great viewing either way.

Have You Been Paying Attention? is back to find out who actually has been
Have You Been Paying Attention? is returning to Channel 10, ready to spin another week of headlines into punchlines.
Host Tom Gleisner is back alongside regulars Ed Kavalee and Sam Pang, with a rotating cast of guests from comedy and entertainment joining each week to prove how much, or how little, they’ve actually absorbed from the news. It’s a rapid-fire, funny and oddly satisfying format that covers the who, the why, the when and the where of a busy seven days. The chemistry between Gleisner, Kavalee and Pang remains one of the most reliable things on Australian television, and the guest mix keeps every episode feeling fresh.
If you’ve been paying attention to the news, great.
If you haven’t, also great. Have You Been Paying Attention? works brilliantly either way.
