Synth, bongos, mellotron (see: Sick Bag) – hold up, is this actually Body Type? Marking the first time this band has worked with a producer (Warpaint's Stella Mozgawa) "in an official capacity", Tally also draws inspo from '60s girl groups.
And What Else?, with its cutesy call-and-response vocals – “What else?”/”More, please” – brings Leader Of The Pack by The Shangri-Las to mind.
“My heart – a little baby bird/ You hold it in your grip ’til it shits through your fingertips” – based on a one-sided relationship that vocalist/guitarist Sophie McComish found herself disappearing within, Sick Bag “examines the fine line between generosity and self-erasure”.

Eye Is A Mouth Is A Face is the first song written entirely collaboratively by Body Type – live at a mate’s studio in Wollongong, no less. The lyrics were informed by a Louise Bourgeois exhibition.
“You say it’s on the way/ I saw you yesterday/ Telling me all about how you’re going on holiday!” – the title track finds humour in trying to reclaim a debt.
Elsewhere: Mulberry, a “meditation on self-dissolution”, finds beauty in the mundane; To Give A Rose opens with moody bass, plucky drums and an exuberant clapping pattern; and Body Type have a blast with Planet 8’s vocal delivery (think: The B-52’s) over buzzy bass and staticky, descending guitar riffs.
Body Type’s latest record gives their feelings a safe place to land, through words and also cathartic instrumental freakouts.
Off the back of Tally, Body Type better get used to accepting statements of adoration.
